The Basics
The Annex Student Leadership Team is a team of volunteer students that serve together to 'Create Opportunities for Others to Connect'. We exist to serve God by loving other people. The Annex Student Leadership Team (ASLT) is a great way to get plugged in at the Annex, to grow in your faith, and grow deep friendships--all through service.
Current Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors are welcome to apply to ASLT. The term of commitment is from Fall Semester of 2019 to the end of Spring Semester 2020.

Ministry Teams
Annex Student Leaders all serve on smaller specific Ministry Teams that each specialize in their service. Freshmen Ministry Team helps to connect Freshman at CU by creating fun community events and regular gatherings. Marketing Team focuses on connecting people on the CU campus to the Annex by inviting people and getting the Annex brand out. Tuesday Night Team works together to create a dynamic experience at Tuesday Night Annex where everyone can connect with Jesus and others.
Are you wanting to serve and be more involved by working with youth or children? Many Annex students serve with Club (High School), Fishy (Middle School) and Kidtrek (Elementary) here at First Pres Boulder. We'd love to connect you to these ministries if you think that they would the best fit for how you would like to serve! Email Matt McDonald if interested in Club, Kyle Rohan for Fishy and Jennie Fletemeyer for Kidtrek.

Commitment
ASLT is a significant commitment that will mean personal sacrifice and challenge. We like to think of Annex Student Leadership equivalent of a club sports team--a significant volunteer commitment to a team. Like any successful team, it takes the collective commitment of each teammate. Please be mindful to consider your future commitments and whether they allow for the prerequisite time and energy that Annex Student Leadership will demand. If you're already committed to another significant volunteer leadership role (YoungLife, Club, Fishy, etc.) we will encourage you to maintain your singular commitment to that ministry.
General commitments include:
General commitments include:
- Serving weekly on Tuesday Nights starting a 7:30pm for pre-Annex prayer
- Sunday Night Team Gatherings (roughly bi-weekly for 1.5 hours)
- Regular planning and execution of events/efforts with your specific Ministry Team
- Periodic all-hands Student Leadership Team efforts (i.e. Big Cabin Weekend, Annex Friendsgiving Dinner, etc.)
- Weekly commitment to regular discipleship relationship/group. This could include:
- Annex Core Group
- Other weekly structure bible study group
- Regular meeting with spiritual mentor
Application
Annex Student Leadership is not a competitive service team. The application process exists to determine if the scope and commitment of the Team is a good fit for each applicant. Many feel 'unqualified' to apply even though they should not ('I'm not spiritual enough', 'I don't know that many people at the Annex', etc.) The application process has three steps. Please complete the first two steps by Friday, February 9. If you have questions, reach out to Dave Pommer to discuss: dpommer@fpcboulder.org
Step 2: Reflection Essays
Please download the below document and answer each essay question. Please limit each answer to one per page (although one or two paragraphs is enough). Please email your completed essays to Sam Kerr at skerr@fpcboulder.org by Friday, February 9.

Step 3: In Person Conversation
After submitting Part 1 and Part 2, Sam Kerr will reach out via email to set up an in person conversation. Plan on about 30 minute time between February 12-15. These conversations are not competitive interviews but rather conversations where everyone gets a chance to know each other better and to help determine if ASLT is a good fit and Ministry Team placement. Anticipate receiving an invitation to be a part of the team before March. If you are applying to the team, please plan on being a part of our Spring Break trip.
Step 4: Orientation Meeting
If you're applying to be a part of the Student Leadership Team for the first time, there will be a mandatory Orientation Meeting on Tuesday, February 13 at 7pm (right before the Annex) in the big room next to the chapel that you walk through on your way to the bathrooms.
Step 5: Spring Training Registration/Payment
Please register by February 24 to guarantee a spot!
